Umutesi
Umutesi
Songs have been sung about love,
Ballads written for smitten souls,
Roses plucked to captivate unrelenting hearts,
But all is none compared to Umutesi
For her love is intense
Runs deeper than still waters
Gets scarred at times
But loves all over again
And again
Why wouldn’t she?
She loved before she was broken.
She gave up before realizing she was a fighter.
But when her light lit in the shadow, she rose again.
A fighter, a conqueror ready to spread her wings.
She is a beauty, a true luck to have
Her beauty lights in the room
An iridescent aura around her
When she moves, gracefully
When she dances,
Swaying side to side
The whole room sits still
When she loves, gives all in full
For she is Umutesi.
Have wikabya,
There is a dark side behind that smile
A tear behind that laughter
A cracked bone behind every dance move
She hides her scars with a fake smile
But who am I to spoil the fun?
She is simple, ready to mingle make friends and create a smile.
Beauty manifests itself
For where tears flowed earlier
They dried to form contours
Of cheek bones beyond beauty
For with each smile, the pain is masked away
Graceful dance moves
Follow the trail of split bones
From brokenness she rose
And like a swan
Now masters her destiny
Her simplicity a mire of complexity
Distant yet revealing
A joint poem between Ambuyo and Marie Jose Umutesi
